F/O Couling was a member of the RCAF during the Second World War and died when the Harvard (3121) he was piloting crashed exploded near Mountainview Airfield, Ontario. A passenger, LAC Clifton James Thornton of Toronto was also killed. LAC Clifton left a pregnant wife and three children.

F/O MacQuarrie L. Couling (90140) was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 10, 1924, the son of George Lencelotte and Vera (nee Lines) Couling of Toronto, Ontario.

He is commemorated on Page 20 of the 'In the Service of Canada' Book of Remembrance.
