The DFC was awarded 14 April 1943 – prior to joining 400 Squadron.

S/L M.G. Brown's Bar was awarded while CO of 400 at the end of WW2. According to documentation the Bar was mailed to his home in Toronto in 1947.

Citation: “Since the award of his Distinguished Flying Cross Squadron leader Brown has continued to display courage and devotion to duty of a high order. His work has set an outstanding example to all the pilots in the squadron.”
